| The Light |
| I can see a light in the distance, Yet I see it only at night, in my dreams. It's impossible to see while I'm awake and I'm confused as to just what it means. It's like sunlight on a cold gray morning, Yet it warms from inside my soul With the warmth of a hot summer sun Melting away the harsh winter cold. The turmoil of my days weighs so heavy I can hardly imagine a safe shore. But God says there are reasons for everything, So just what is all of this for? The light? Now I see when I'm near Him, It grows bright enough to see during the day. So I'll let Him guide me towards it And be my strength as He shows me the way. Lord, be my strength and my guide, Teach me to be strong and to trust in You. And this light will continue to grow brighter Even in the darkness I must pass through. When I'm frightened or feeling abandoned, Or feel the darkness closing in around me, Let Your light shine bright in my soul, Lord. For I know that one day I'll be free. The light grows brighter and brighter. The darkness in my soul fades away. And beside you, Lord, nestled in your love, Is where I will forever stay. |
