In Times Like These
We Need a Savior

© Ferna Lary Mills
There's an old hymn that I remember from my youth, and the words have come back to me over and over again during many of my own trials:  "In times like these, we need a Savior."

Grieving a lost loved one ~ I needed a Savior to rescue me from the depths of my grief. I had no hope left. Struggling with financial problems ~ I needed a Savior to rescue me from my sorrow, anxiety and frustration as well as my mounting debts.  Struggling with my children's health problems ~ I needed a Savior to heal them and give us peace and hope for the future.

There are a lot of platitudes like "When God knocks you off your feet, it's time to get on your knees." Maybe there is some truth in those words, but those words alone will not bring Peace to our heart. Someone saying, "I'm praying for you"  or "My heart goes out to you" doesn't bring Peace. Hearing words of comfort may console us for a time, but it just does not bring Peace.

In times like these ~ we need Peace. Peace in our hearts and down deep in our souls. Peace to give us the hope for a better tomorrow. Peace to give us the courage to continue when the future seems so bleak. My friend, there is only One Source for this kind of Peace. That Source, is our Great Savior, Jesus Christ.  For until we turn to Him, and He hears our pleas, only then will we find true Peace.

In times like these, we need a Savior.

For the many thousands who suffered through Hurricane Katrina, let me first say that throughout any suffering I may have endured in this life, I cannot for one moment even begin to fathom the depths of their pain. I cannot even begin to comprehend the nightmare they lived through.  But I DO know that even in the worse crisis imaginable, there is Peace to be found, and that Peace is found in Jesus Christ, our Savior.

During Katrina, people in New Orleans cried out for someone to save them from rooftops, for someone to protect them from total anarchy, for someone to help them to get out of their hell on earth. As a result, Americans pushed against their limits to help in the worst natural disaster in the history of this country. In many ways, every American who did ANYTHING, is in some sense a "savior". Many people went beyond the scope of anything we ever imagined to help others in desperate need.

These "saviors" provided rescue, food and water, medical care, money, security, and yes, many gentle and encouraging words to console those in desperate need. But the one thing that these wonderful Americans could NOT provide ~ was Peace to a troubled spirit.

Rainbow Faith is committed to providing you words of inspiration, faith and hope to help you find your way through your grief. Whether you have recently lost a loved one or whether you going through some other great "life crisis".  But I must tell you this, Rainbow Faith cannot bring you Peace.

In times like these, we need a Savior. For only in the arms of Jesus will you ever find that true Peace; the Peace that gives you the courage and the strength to look beyond today, and hope for a bright tomorrow. True Peace. Peace that honestly surpasses all human understanding. Peace that only He can provide.

Now, I must ask you this: Why are you here?  Why are you reading this page ... now?  Did you come to this site looking for some words of hope as the result of a loss?  Are you here because you just "accidentally" found this website?  Did you come here hoping to find some words of comfort from your grief? That's why most people say they came here.

But, do you really believe finding this website was just a coincidence, with the millions of websites online? Or can you believe for one moment that maybe there is a reason you are here, reading this right now? Maybe someone higher than you and mightier than you led you here ~ for a reason? Suppose it's not just by "accident" that you stumbled onto this page. Suppose your Savior is already guiding you, and you don't even know it.
He is only a breath away from you. All you have to do is reach up and He will take your hand. You have but to ask. He promises. I know this is true, because He has done this for me, and my friend, He will certainly do this for you.

My prayers are with you, as I pray daily for everyone who reads this page, that God will reach down and touch your heart, so that when you respond to Him, He will be able to give you that wonderful Peace that you so desperately seek.

May God bless you and comfort you and give you Peace. ~Ferna
