| Now I lay me down to sleep. A lesson in futility. For to put away the woes of the day, I don't have that ability. My wrinkled soul is weary from this long and troublesome day. Tied up in a knot so no matter what, I'll never sleep, though here I lay. Why can't I turn off my brain? Why can't I get loose from today? Then so suddenly it all comes to me, Why, I simply forgot to pray! Now I lay me down to sleep. Oh Lord, you know all my sorrow. Please do your best so that I may rest and not worry about tomorrow. My gnarled soul relaxes and sleep, I no longer fight, for He promised me to hear my plea, and sends Angels to guard my night. |
